It's A Small World After All - Part Four
Dec. 24th, 2011 08:01 pm
Hi everyone! Welcome to Part Four of It's A Small World, a 'you suck at parenting' challenge. Last time we last saw France, it was Christmas, just slightly ahead of reality. Most of the children had been taught to do their homework, and it paid off when most of them came home with A grades. Also, France turned out to be the very worst fisherman I have ever seen in my game, ever. But he did at least manage to gain a few possible love interests and a giant TV.

This update begins with the deeply enviable sight of money falling from the sky.

And then I send France fishing again. I have plans for the fish, you see. Plans other than 'pick up people to boink.'
France: I like the second plan. Can we stick with that one?

We can't do both? Or should I make you pack up and go home?
NyoFrance: Ooooooh, what a handsome young man! I'd really really like to get naked and know him better.
France: I can do both.

France: OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHFISH!

France: I am so good at this!
Yeah, it only took you two days and two boots to catch a single smegging catfish.

And look who caught an actual fish on their very first go too.

Just in case you thought Spain (and everyone else in the last update) was a fluke, have a picture of someone else who's better at fishing than France. He is seriously the worst fisherman I've ever had in my game so far.

OK, maybe not.
Britannia Angel: I meant to do that.

I suppose you meant to do that too?
France: Hey, you can never have too many shoes, right?
Ones that have been mouldering in the bottom of the pond for who knows how long? Yes. Yes, you can. Any more and I'll make you drink them.

France: Ugh, fine, hows this?
Much better. You can stop now. :D

When France returned home, there were not one, but two bags of money waiting for him. Thanks to these, his digging profits and that

And fish is all cooked. Did you know, fresh fish is very yummy and filling? Why do I care? Why have I been making France fish every spare moment he gets?

That's why. :D

South Italy: Mwahaha, let's see how that pervy bastard manages without his newspaper!
Oh no, how awful, now he won't be able to make a paper plane, boo hoo. Like anyone cares. Keep it. Take tomorrow's too.

Uh, really? What relative would that be? Has Canada been dipping into the family funds? Did England get severance pay from his toddler job? And that's assuming they count as actual relatives in canon, because they certainly aren't related in my game.

Canada: Why the hell do my grades still suck?
Dunno, bb. But you'd better work on it, you're the only kid without an A and we've got company for dinner. Don't want you dragging them down.

RUSSIA, PUT THAT CHILD DOWN. IT IS NOT YOURS AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE IT'S BEEN.
Also check out the tour score. The house is fabulous.

And so is the sparklefish! Aren't you glad I made you stick at it, France? You didn't have to schmooze once!
France: Do you even know me at all? :(
Oh. Right. Sorry.

France: So, when a man and a woman-
Canada: -Love each other, or just really like the look of each other, they head for the nearest photobooth and blah blah woohoo blah blah Mrs Crumplebottom blah blah llamas. Ammirite?
France: Whoa, that's creepy, it's like you can read my mind.
Canada: Can we do my homework from today now, instead of the stuff from three weeks ago?

I swear, Belgium is always is France's bed. I'm always having to chase her out with the stereo. Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Instead of finding a new bed, she decides to stay up all night, playing Sims. As you do.

Eeek! Eeek! No! Go away!

Burglar McSinister: Do-de do, just stealin' your stuff~

Except not. Because waaaay back when the children first started school, I made France get an alarm installed on the car. I had no idea it worked that way, but as soon as the burglar stepped onto the lot, it started wailing and he didn't manage to steal a thing. Haha.

Which is just as well, because the policeman was USELESS and lost the fight.

Officer Suck: Well, poop. At least he didn't break my nose any worse.
Yikes, that is one flat nose. Do you have an alien relative?

Officer Suck: I must alert the home owner about the situation.
France! France! There's a man in uniform in your bedroom! This is your lucky day! WAKE UP!

Officer Suck: Whoa, this room's kind of pervy. I'll leave him a message and get out of here.

France: Wait, don't go!
Too late.
France: But man in uniform in my bedroom!
Yeah, not any more. But look on the bright side, the burglar didn't take any of your stuff.
France: There was a burglar?
Um, yeah. That's why the policeman came, obviously.
France: Oh, that's why? Look at the date, I just thought he was a present.

Speaking of presents, as you can see from the pictures, the children almost all want a pet. Apart from Canada, who wants to finally get a decent grade at school. So, as a reward for getting into private school, I decide to indulge them. The majority want a kitten, so a kitten it is!

First though, you can all have a giggle at Canada's private school uniform. But no-one else's, they were all smart enough to change into their outerwear instead. Canada, being Canada and hard as fuck, has no need of outerwear.

But before pet buying, there's something France wants to do. And no, your friend can't come too.

Whoa, that's entirely too much awesome for my game to handle.

Prussia: You're so hot you're giving me a fever.
France: She totally wants to do me.
Yeah. You should talk to her.

France: So I hear your milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

So while Prussia and France get to know each other better, some random dog comes along and kicks over their rubbish. I never knew dogs did that. I feel kind of bad for blaming all the townies in the past.

This is exactly what it looks like.

Prussia: AWESOME.

When I went to the pet shop, I discovered it was actually an empty building. I'd downloaded a bunch of them for businesses and forgot they had nothing inside. Oops. So France goes to the pub instead.

I love that the game spawned grape coloured sims. XD

France plays a mean game of snooker, but there's no nations here to woo, so I send him home. I'll get a kitten once I've made an actual, functioning pet shop.

You can do it, Canada!

And indeed he can.

And as if that wasn't enough, he FINALLY gets an A. Yay!

Liechtenstein is also having a good day at school.

Oooooh, floating children. That probably shouldn't be happening.

France: Thanks for the woohoo, you were awesome.
Prussia: Well, it IS my middle name.
*slurp*

Have some child spam.

Because it's just about time for the teen years! Which we'll get to next year! See you then!

Date: 2012-02-22 05:29 pm (UTC)My PC? It doesn't have the greatest specs, but it's not too bad. I've got a 1.60GHz processor, an nVidia GForce 7050 graphics card (whatever the hell that means!) and 2GB RAM, which I want to increase to 4 when I can afford it, although the game can only use 2GB by default and I'd have to mess with the settings to get it to use any more. I The thing that really made a difference was moving my My Documents folder from the horribly bloated C drive to the nice, empty D drive. No more blue screen! ANYWAY! I play with most of the graphics settings up high, but no reflections. I also use GunMod's camera mod (http://www.modthesims.info/d/97642) to get close up pics (and anything inside the basement) and FRAPS to actually take the pictures. I'm not fond of the ingame camera at all.
Custom content-wise, most of my stuff comes from Mod The Sims or Garden Of Shadows, with a few bits nicked from The Sims Resource. Fandom-specific content and most of the actual sims are either from
Wow, that got long, haha. XD Hope that was useful!

Date: 2012-02-22 05:49 pm (UTC)I am planning on getting a new notebook soon (mainly to play Sims 3 hoho, and because I have no well-working notebook right now... only a slow netbook and an old, damaged Macbook) and the specs are above what you listed I think (except for the graphics card maybe, I have no idea about that either 8D The one I'll be getting is nVidia GT 530 M whatever that means *will google it* ), so I guess I'm relieved that it will have to run fluently. XD
I only had the base game on the Macbook before, so yeah, my crappy screencaps are no comparison lol 8)
Also thanks for the links to the custom mod sites + for the camera mod, I think that will come in handy! XD

Date: 2012-02-23 03:36 am (UTC)Yay, I'm looking forward to it! :D
(And putting together commetns XD : )
Because he's mean. ^^ Well, no, he's not really mean, but I figured a
combination of mean and serious would work better to give me a grouchy
loner who finds it hard to make friends.
Haha, I think there are a few characters that would fit this trope (e.g. Hijikata from Gintama), but then again I always feel like they're not *really* mean (mostly tsundere in England's case XD) so I can't bring myself to make them so mean lol. Then again, I go after their zodiac signs mostly anyway and then try to adjust their character points as much as possible within their respective signs (if they are given).
Leaving everyone on free will except France sounds like fun! I mostly play with free will, but I still command everyone a lot. I don't know, I feel bored if I have nothing to do, but then again free will be funnier if you want to capture their story xD I do remember that they were pretty useless in Sims 1 on free will though!
I'm curious about FRAPs, looking forward to trying it out among with everything else. XD
Lol, InTeen sounds... interesting. Realistic and frightening at the same time 8D I remember I had some (self-made, because somehow the custom sims DLs from that LJ user you linked didn't work! *found it that time too and tried it out) England and America, with England being a bit older (it began with England as teenie and America as child). When America turned from teen to adult, they quickly fell in love which was really funny, just because his birthday passed. XD
BTW, how many expansion packs do you have installed? 8D I only had the base game back in the days, but I'll probably be borrowing a lot from a friend and buying those missing or at least the newest one so I can run it without problems... xD

Date: 2012-02-23 09:41 am (UTC)Gotta say, with seven toddlers, just controlling France gave me plenty to do. Now the teens are at school, it's a little duller, which is why he's going on lots of dates. It also helps that each expansion introduced new features. Watching free will sims in a base game would probably bore me too.
FRAPs is a good program to have. You can choose a key for screencapping and choose a folder to put the pictures in and choose the file format, so they're all nice and big and have names that make sense. And if the game borks, you don't lose the screencaps.
Currently, I have all the expansions and stuff packs. If you can't get all of them, at least get Seasons for the weather. Just having the base game could be why Zero's sims didn't work for you before. I know Angel UK needed University, as does my Greece. I don't know if InTeen needs a particular expansion, I assume it doesn't, but if you want ACR, which allows sims to have autonomous romantic interactions (which is great fun in a free will game) you'll need at least NightLife. There's also the Lot Debugger and Stuck Object Remover and some critical game fixes over on MATY, but there's different versions for each expansion so you should be able to get them no matter what you install.

Date: 2012-02-26 03:57 pm (UTC)BTW, do you remember where female!Prussia's outfit is from? XD *is already collecting downloads lol*
Hmh, I think University, Nightlife, Seasons and Business seem pretty important from what I've seen... (I'm not even sure what else is out there except for Pets) like downloads I'd like etc. Yeah, Angel UK needs University, but from what I saw the others didn't have requirements. I'll try again once I'm back *raelly looking forward to it* XD

Date: 2012-02-26 06:32 pm (UTC)You might want Bon Voyage, because holidays are fun, or Apartment Life for witches, but I think the four you mentioned are the most important.
